- L I Cares
Long Island Cares is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, community based, regionally responsive, and working in partnership with other charitable agencies to fight hunger in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. We are the leading anti-hunger organization and the only food bank on Long Island.
Long Island Cares was founded in 1980 by the late singer/activist Harry Chapin in response to the immediate needs of hungry Long Islanders. It is continued today by his wife and partner Sandy Chapin. In the years since Harry left us, Long Island Cares has become an organized force of caring, dedicated people who are making a difference in the fight against hunger on Long Island.
Long Island Cares’ goals are to provide emergency food where and when it is needed and to sponsor programs that help families achieve self-sufficiency. Our goals are high. We are here to promote the food welfare of Long Island, to raise the nutritional standards of our community, to bring into closer relation the resources and food needs of the community, and to encourage food self-reliance for all Long Islanders.

- Charity Begins At Home
The concept behind Charity Begins at Home, Inc. is to raise funds and directly allocate these funds to charitable agencies in the tri-state area, thus bypassing the huge administrative costs associated with the larger national organizations. Charity Begins at Home, Inc. was first organized in 1979 and funded primarily by monies from concerts through the efforts of Mr. William Joel. For the past several years, other organizations such as motorcycle groups, Q104 Radio Station, recording studios and many public high schools have held events to raise funds for Charity Begins at Home, Inc.

- Daniel's Music Foundation: About Us
Daniel’s Music Foundation is an organization formed in August 2005 to provide free music programs for people with disabilities in the New York city area. From our personal experience we have seen that music can enhance people's lives.
Our mission is to provide a comfortable educational and social environment in which our members can enjoy, learn and practice the joys of music together. Membership is free and there are no dues or fees required for any classes.
The catalyst of the Foundation is Daniel Trush, a 22-year-old survivor of five brain aneurysms. Daniel has used music, in particular, the keyboard to help overcome his challenges. He is joined by a group of instructors who oversee and conduct the classes.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and our board of directors is funding all the administrative and overhead costs of the Foundation's work. This allows us to use 100% of your contributions towards the music programs.
