Goat Ropin' Bastardsby Goat Ropin' Bastards
|
The Goat Ropin' Bastards provide a unique flavor of country music that is seasoned with some rockabilly, metal, or blues depending on how much beer they drank in their patented, tarpaper "Goat Shack" in Perry County, Pennsylvania. Lyrically, the band writes songs about everyday stories growing up in rural Appalachia that are sometimes taboo and often exaggerated. The result of this blend is not only catchy, but downright funny at times.
This self-titled EP contains:
"Reading Railroad" - a hillbilly blues number about the most pimpin', badass, train engineer ever.
"Bong Hits 4 Jesus" - a twangy tune about the hypocritical daughter of a preacher.
"Never Gonna Get My Guns" - an ode to burying firearms in order to prepare for the inevitable foreign military invasion that will happen after the government has disarmed the citizenry.
"John Deere" - driving number about how much can be done with a lawn tractor.
"Trailer Tramp" - closest thing to a real weeper on the EP. It's about a tramp who lives in a trailer.
"The Rut's On" - trippy-as-hell groove about a father sneaking in "the sex talk" while telling his son to be careful while driving during whitetail mating season.
"Deer Season" - a comical hillbilly anthem about a blue collar redneck who wants nothing more than to drink beer and shoot deer all day with his M-16.
