Ian Tamblyn University Cafe 6/10/07 Set One
 Ian Tamblyn
Canada's Ian Tamblyn, who describes himself as musician/adventurer/playwright, made a rare US appearance at Stony Brook University's The University Cafe on Sunday evening June 10th, 2008.
Canadian songwriters including Lynn Miles, James Keelaghan, and Fred Eaglesmith regularly sing the praises of Ian Tamblyn as one of Canada's national treasures, deserving much more of an audience in the United States.
Since 1971, Tamblyn has released twenty-five albums becoming Canada's first independent recording artist with his North Track label. Although Tamblyn did debut at New York City's The Other End in 1978, his focus has been almost exclusively on the Canadian music circuit where he has played the folk clubs, the coffeehouses, and the major festivals. He also served as a topical songwriter on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporations "Sunday morning" radio program. His songs have been recorded by Sylvia Tyson, James Keelaghan, Tamarack, Lynn Miles and Hart Rouge, among others and they are the subject of a tribute CD, Coastline of our Dreams.
A recent CD, Angel's Share, reflects the range of his travels, with songs associated with
visits to Scotland, Antartica, and of course, Canada from the west coast, to the Arctic Circle, to
his home in Chelsea, Quebec. His new CD, Superior: Spirit and Light , is the first of four projected CD’s of his “Four Coast Project” documenting Tamblyn’s musical journey as it connects with the culture of his homeland.
Tamblyn has also combined his music with his environmental concerns to create a series of recordings combining field recordings of Canadian wilderness sounds with synthesizer, hammered dulcimer, and cello to create an ambient instrumental music bringing him recognition as a "new age" musician.

Ellis Paul, January 20th, 2008
Ellis Paul is at the top of the contemporary acoustic music scene and bridges the gap between the contemporary folk sound and the populist traditions of Woody Guthrie. His new CD (his fourteenth recording) , The Dragonfly Races, showcases songs written for children and adults alike and includes assistance from some of his musical colleagues, including Vance Gilbert, Darryl Purpose, Antje Duvekot and Flynn.
Paul has defined himself musically as follows: "I've always considered myself a folksinger despite the fact that I am clearly not putting out folk albums. They have always been singer-songwriter records with pop, rock, country, jazz, folk-rock over tones, but many of them include folk themes, social commentary, story-songs of people struggling with the day to day issues of being a human being."
His songs have been used in major motion pictures and Ellis Paul has been the recipient of 13 Boston New Music Awards. His club and festival appearances both in the United States and in Europe have earned him recognition as an extraordinarily talented live concert performer with a passionate fan base.

Live in the Lobby-The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts
Called "A felicitous space for music listening" by the New York Times (6/17/07), Live in the Lobby is a series of concerts for small audiences held in the lobby of the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA). The series, which began in the winter of 2005, has been called "one of Long Island's premier small venues for independent singers and songwriters" (L.I. Advance 8/23/07) because they feature original music from Long Island area artists and do not book "tribute" or "cover" bands. PTPA Board member Christopher Capobianco and his fellow volunteers convert the beautiful art deco lobby into a small concert hall with seating for 50 and standing room for another 50, creating an intimate setting with excellent acoustics. "Live in the Lobby" is a team effort of volunteers who believe in having a place for original music and give up a lot of time to make it happen. The performers appreciate it too, and although it's not a "big money" gig, the series is booked for months in advance because the word is out that this is one very special place to play. Advance tickets at the PTPA box office or by phone at 631.207.1313. Visit Liveinthelobby.com or myspace.com/liveinthelobbyatPTPA for the complete schedule and links to the performers.

Iridesense

Live In the Lobby-Patchogue Theatre
Iridesense-1/3/08
Once in a while a truly original and
inspired act breaks through the mold and creates change through music.
At it's true core, Iridesense is a celebration of sounds. From Rock and
pop, to psychedelic, folk and post-punk/new wave their music is
unparalleled and unique. Brother and Sister Rick and Tara Eberle's
uplifting and thoughtful lyrics easily inspire, and they sing with
harmonic intricacies and counterpoints as their rhythm and bass guitars
dance and crunch.
The lead guitar riffs of Rob Viccari and drum rhythms of
Rich Drouin create a bed of melody and weave the sound together in a
steady flow and it's all fused together creating one of the most
intoxicating and invigorating aural experiences you can or ever will
find. Check them out at profile.myspace.com/iridesense
