Ellis Paul stands at the very top of the contemporary acoustic music world and has managed to bridge the gulf between the contemporary singer-songwriter sound and the populist traditions of Woody Guthrie and others. From his emergence on the Boston folk scene, he has won a devout following for his well-crafted songs and his passionate, energetic stage presentation.
Woody Guthrie's daughter, Nora, says it best: "Ellis is one of our best human compasses, marking in melodies and poems where we've been and where we might go if we so choose to. Personally Ellis, I'm goin' where you're goin'!"
2010 brings a new Ellis Paul CD, The Day After Everything Changed, which sees Ellis at the very top of his game with respect to songwriting and recording. His concert performances are always extraordinary and his Cafe show on November 29th, where he was joined by Adam Ezra and Michael Clem, may well be the most memorable of his five Cafe shows to date.
