Rough Folk
Hank Stone
Independent Release (2005)
Woody Guthrie meets Cole Porter? That's the combination that comes to mind when one hears Hank's songs: a blend of innocence and sophistication; a freewheelin' folkie feel along with the wit and knowingness of Broadway or Hollywood. Hank has been writing songs for over 3 decades now, and each new creation surprises him. He never knows where the muse will lead, but he is always ready, willing and anle to follow.
"Rough Folk" is a must-hear experience... every track is a diamond in the, well, "rough"... the songs appeal to the ear, the head, sometimes to the feet, but always to the heart...
Hank Stone grew up in New York City, in the shadows of JFK airport and Aqueduct Racetrack. Played rock'n'roll in local bands, started writing songs and never stopped. Stopped performing in public for too long; came back out in 2001, discovered a great community of talented and supportive musicians on Long Island, resharpened his guitar skills and finally recorded his debut CD, "Rough Folk," which presents 12 varied but cohesive tunes, each produced by Tony DeStefano to bring out the song's true soul. Hank has long been an avid listener to all styles of music, and much of what he has absorbed is evident in these fine tracks.
